Most Popular Posts of 2009

I’ve been reading a lot of these “most popular posts of 2009″ rundowns, which got me thinking. Aren’t all most popular posts really only self-fulfilling prophecies? For example I have the something in the sidebar about the most popular posts over the past 60 days. Once something make it into the bottom spot it gets more traffic and moves further up the list, until it it is older than sixty days and is removed.

Regardless, here are the most popular posts of 2009 from my blog. Some were obvious attempts to game search engines and generate more traffic. The popularity rating is a combination of views, searches, comments, trackbacks, etc., that is automatically tracked for all posts. The percentage next to each post is the relative popularity rating out of a maximum of 100.

Transylvania University Students on Twitter

This post is a collection of all of the known alumni and students of Transylvania University on Twitter. Updates made are listed at the bottom of the page. If you would like to be added to the page leave a note in the comments. I will try to keep this as up to date as possible. You should add yourself to the We Follow directory, once enough people are utilizing that directory I won’t have to update this page as often. I highly recommend you follow me on twitter @kylelibra, you will get added to the list more quickly that way.

A Glimpse Back into the History of Greek Life at Transylvania

This post will probably only be relevant for some of the readers. Being in a fraternity at Transylvania University was a great experience. I would even say it was essential to get everything out of the college experience. Currently I work for the National Headquarter of Delta Sigma Phi. This allows me to occasionally come by some interesting information. Most of this information isn’t stuff I can post online. However, this morning I came across a copy of Baird’s Manual of American College Fraternities. I promptly scanned (poorly) and uploaded one of my favorite entries. It turns out Greek Life at Transylvania dates back to before the Civil War.

Monday Morning Distraction: BitTorrent

BitTorrent is something that has been around for a long time now. During my time at college I forgot about it because Transylvania in their infinite wisdom had it blocked, not that they would even have had to bandwidth to make using it possible.

Web sites such as The Pirate Bay and isoHunt offer a huge array of downloads. If you use a Mac, Transmission is the must have client, if you use a PC, uTorrent is the go to client.

There is so much cool stuff out there to download, this one will definitely eat up some time this week.

Follow the man, the myth, the legend, Steve Banfield on Twitter

For those of you who are not aware, Steve Banfield, is an alumnus of the Beta Mu Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi. He donated a large sum of money to get a scholarship fund started for the chapter to help us keep our grades as high as possible. Being a technologically savvy person, he is on Twitter. Recently he sent out a tweet asking who wanted to be followers number 599 and 600. I will admit that I am jealous he has so many followers, but if there are any Delta Sigs out there who want to know what he is up to, subscribe to his tweets here. I’m guessing he will break the 600 mark fairly quickly.

Transylvania Book Heist Reenactment Video

I found out about this via Jon Clark via Beast via Twitter if that makes sense.

Court TV has a show called Masterminds. The show re-creates crimes and explains what happened with different cases. We have known for some time that there was an episode concerning the infamous Transy Book Heist. Unfortunately we were never able to watch it because the cable service on campus didn’t have the channel. (conspiracy? possibly…)

Long story short, watch this before it gets pulled down.

Update: The videos are now back online, they were previously taken down.
