The International Olympic Committee announced today that the 2016 games would be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Interestingly Chicago was in the running but was the first to be eliminated. Here is a look at the other future Olympic sites as well as a video that makes me want to visit Brazil.

2010 (Winter Games) – Vancouver, Canada
2012 (Summer Games) – London, England
2014 (Winter Games) – Sochi, Russia
2016 (Summer Games) – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Another interesting face: Detroit has attempted to host the games six times and have been denied all six times, making them the most rejected city.

Hopefully most of you saw the Opening Ceremonies and read Gate’s hilarious post about the subject. If you are like me and you missed them, then here is a recap in pictures.

Unfortunately not everything went perfectly. North and South Korea did not march in together like they have done in the past and Russia invaded the country of Georgia leaving thousands dead.

Normally I try not to post stuff like this, but it was just too funny to pass up.
