Heck no. I agree with all points. China has a version of twitter and facebook already and they will have to prove with some mighty controls they have censor the chinese people. This seems to contradict FB policy of sharing everything though. I have this feeling most people our age are using the service less and less as we migrate to using twitter more and more.

See a need - fill a need. This is how you will make millions. Develop the app yourself or have someone in India do it for you.

Just so happens that I am writing about something like this for my Islam and Politics class right now. New communications technology has been important in political uprisings throughout Europe and the Middle East. Saffron Revolution in Bumra = YouTube, Moldova and other former Soviet countries' color revolutions = cell phones, Iranian Green Revolution = Twitter. And now we have the use of social media in successful revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt (although we'll see how they look in a few years). Technology has certainly given activists new ways to organize and demand political change.

The other part of this is important- new technology is also giving governments new ways to restrict freedom of speech and invade privacy. There are accusations of governments in the Middle East, for example, of using Facebook and Twitter to identify organizers and then target them. Venezuela, Iran, Tunisia, Burma and Egypt have all been accused of this- and they're all among the countries with the lowest internet penetration and least amount of internet freedom according to the Economist graph.
