Prince Claims Internet is Dead

Prince recently claimed the Internet is dead. As the joke goes, the Internet responded by saying, “who?”

While reading about the details of that bizarre comment I came across some clips from Kevin Smith’s college tour. A student asks about Smith’s time with Prince. Smith responds for about thirty minutes with a story about how Prince is more than a little bit nuts. Enjoy.

Madonna vs. Lady Gaga: “She’s Not Me” Video Comparison

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. That said, I’m not really sure what to make of this video. It is well documented that I’m a big Lady Gaga fan. She is definitely talented, no denying that. But, is she also just copying Madonna? I’m not sure if this is a whole lot of coincidence, copying or some sort of clever tribute. I have the feeling you could go out and find another pop star with a ton of music videos and find a lot of these same things.

Interesting nonetheless. What do you think? Coincidence or copycat?

Now that over 1 Billion people have watched Lady Gaga’s videos, I felt like I should mention it here on the blog. Instead of posting the latest Lady Gaga video, I’ve posted this remix instead. Mainly because I’m pretty sure I’ve already forced everyone I know to watch the original version of Telephone.

How OK Go’s Amazing Rube Goldberg Machine Was Built

If you haven’t seen OK Go’s new video, it is embedded below. OK Go is the band behind that famous treadmill music video for those of you who have forgotten. Rube Goldberg machines fascinate me. This is probably the most complex one I’ve ever seen.

While the video itself is pretty amazing, it’s even more incredible when you read this article about its making. Here’s the part I was wondering about:

The video was shot by a single Steadicam, but it took more than 60 takes, over the course of two days, to get it right. Many of those takes lasted about 30 seconds, Sadowsky said, getting no further than the spot in the video where the car tire rolls down a ramp.
