Monday Morning Distraction: The Wiki Game

Imagine the six degrees of Kevin Bacon game and the mass knowledge of Wikipedia were to combine and you would get The Wiki Game. The game is simple. They give you a starting article and a finishing article. Your job is to navigate between the two following links within the first one. The game has a tendency to distract you from remembering you are even playing a game. Often I would come across an interesting article and the clock would expire because I had been stuck reading.

Here is an example:

Goal:
Yahoo! > Larry Bird

Solution:
Yahoo! » Jerry Yang (entrepreneur) » Stanford University » National Collegiate Athletic Association » Basketball » Larry Bird

The game is a lot of fun, check it the Wiki Game.

Monday Morning Distraction: Angry Birds

I’m writing this post under the assumption that 99% of the people who will read this own either an iPod Touch or an iPhone. Angry Birds is the latest iPhone game craze. The premise is simple. The birds don’t like the pigs, and you must catapult the birds into the pigs to blow them up. You can download the game here. It costs 99 cents, but there is a lite version which is free in case you want to test it out.

Monday Morning Distraction: Douglas Adams: Parrots, the Universe and Everything

At around 90 minutes, this will eat up a good part of your morning. Douglas Adams is one of my favorite authors. From the official description:

Douglas Adams was the best-selling British author and satirist who created The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. In this talk at UCSB recorded shortly before his death, Adams shares hilarious accounts of some of the apparently absurd lifestyles of the world’s creatures, and gleans from them extraordinary perceptions about the future of humanity.

Monday Morning Distraction: Bill Gates on energy – Innovating to zero!

Monday Morning Distraction: Blosics 2

Blosics 2 seems simple enough. Thirty levels, a bunch of blocks and a ball. You try to knock the green blocks off and keep the red blocks on. To add to the level of distraction, you need 100 points to pass a level, but can try to get a lot more points than the minimum. The game keeps track of your total score, giving you something to try to beat. I can’t beat level 29, but I’m sure someone can beat the whole thing.

Monday Morning Distraction: Hotel Hell Vacation

I chuckled a few times, but I never really watched any of these movies as a kid.

From the official description: Ride along as The Griswolds hit the road again. This time they are on their way to see Rusty at his vacation rental. They stop at a hotel and typical Griswold madness ensues.
