Six Reasons to give Foursquare Another Chance
If you haven’t tried Foursquare yet, or you tried it and decided it wasn’t for you, here are six reasons you should give it another chance.
Newly Redesigned App
They recently redesigned the application for the iPhone, Android and Blackberry platforms. They updated applications are much easier to use, faster, prettier and less buggy. All of these reasons contribute to a much better user experience.
Cross Platform Availability
For a long time Blackberry users were left out. Now just about every platform has an application. Except for Palm Pre users.
More People are Using It
Like all social applications, Foursquare is better with more people. While I wouldn’t recommend friending every person out there, the experience is definitely better with more friends. Now that I’ve got 30+ friends, I can easily see what all of my friends are up to before I head out for the night.
Find your Friends
It’s much easier to see everyone’s location on Foursquare than sending out 20 different texts to all of your friends to figure out what everyone is up to.
City Guide
With the tips feature, the application can be used as a city guide to find interesting stuff to do in an unfamiliar place.
Earn Free Stuff
Now that Foursquare is making partnerships with lots of mainstream brands like Starbucks using the application can easily score you free stuff!

A correction; Palm users have had a Foursquare app of their own available since the first of this year.
I wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for the input!
Really good points raised here. For Foursquare and other similar applications to really show how valuable they can be, they need a rapidly expanding user base.
We will see if it actually happens. I think it will.
The NY Times had a good write up on the service today:

good post, maybe more of my friends will use it now
I need to convince more people to use it! The NY Times article says they only have 500,000 users, they need more!
