10 Most Anticipated Films of 2009

This is my Top 10, in the order of least anticipated to most anticipated.

10. FanboysRelease Date – February 5 – The only reason this one is coming in at the ten spot is that the movie comes out tomorrow. Otherwise it would definitely be further down the list. Trailer

9. G.I. Joe: Rise of CobraRelease Date – August 8 – The teaser shown during the Super Bowl got me excited. After seeing Transformers last year, I’m hoping that another part of my childhood can turn into a good movie. Trailer

8. Crank 2Release Date – April 17 – The first Crank was highly underrated. This one will be full of more of the over the top action from the first, with an even more ridiculous plot, but that’s ok because it won’t take itself too seriously. Trailer

7. Sherlock HolmesRelease Date – November 11 – I will probably watch anything starring Robert Downey Jr. at this point. Sorry, no trailer yet.

5. BrĂ¼noRelease Date – July 10 – Sasha Cohen’s follow up to Borat. Should be equal parts inappropriate and hilarious. Sorry, no trailer yet.

4. Terminator SalvationRelease Date – May 2 – Directed by McG, starring a very angry Christian Bale. I have high hopes that I can wipe the memories of Terminator 3 from my mind. Trailer

3. Transformers: Revenge of the FallenRelease Date – July 26 – Anything with Megan Fox and giant robots is going to be good. Trailer

2. Inglorious BasterdsRelease Date – August 21 – Quentin Tarantino is finally returning to the silver screen. Set in WWII and starring Brad Pitt, this one almost made it to number one, but not quite. Sorry, no trailer yet.

1. WatchmenRelease Date – March 6 – Dues to lawsuits this one almost got shelved indefinitely. If you have no idea what this is about, go check out the graphic novel which is so highly regarded almost everyone agrees it is the one of, if not the greatest of all time. Trailer

Honorable Mentions include James Cameron’s Avatar, which may or may not make it to screens in 2009 and Angels and Demons starring Tom Hanks.

I am a little surprised you didn’t have any animated movies on here. There are at least three that I think will be impressive this year including Coraline, Up, and 9. All of which have trailers:

I considered some of the animated films. I enjoy those, but I don’t really look forward to them very much anymore. Thus, they didn’t make the list.
